Human-Agent Interaction (HAI)
HAI is the study and practice of designing effective communication between humans and AI agents. It draws from HCI (human-computer interaction) but adds unique dimensions: natural language as an input modality, probabilistic outputs, agent initiative (the agent can start conversations), and asymmetric knowledge (the agent may know things the human doesn't, and vice versa). HAI covers everything from prompt design to feedback mechanisms to error recovery when an agent misunderstands intent.
