Agent Systems Engineer

Build the systems that power agentic behavior

About the Role

We're looking for an Agent Systems Engineer to build and scale agent-driven systems.

This is not a standard backend or frontend role.

You won't just be writing APIs or UI components. You'll be building execution systems where agents plan, act, and interact with real tools and data.

What You'll Do

  • Implement agent workflows and orchestration logic
  • Integrate tools, APIs, and MCP servers into agent systems
  • Build context pipelines and memory systems
  • Design and optimize tool-calling architectures
  • Handle multi-step, asynchronous agent execution
  • Work closely with designers to bring AUX specs to life
  • Debug and improve agent reliability and performance

What You'll Work With

  • LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
  • MCP / tool-calling frameworks
  • Backend services and APIs
  • Databases and retrieval systems
  • Event-driven and async architectures

What We're Looking For

  • Strong engineering background (backend, full-stack, or systems)
  • Experience working with APIs and integrations
  • Understanding of distributed systems or workflows
  • Comfort working with non-deterministic systems
  • Ability to translate abstract designs into real implementations

Bonus Points

  • Experience building AI agents or automation systems
  • Experience with LangChain, CrewAI, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with retrieval systems (RAG, embeddings, etc.)

Traditional backend builds:

"Systems that respond to requests"

This role builds:

"Systems that decide, act, and execute tasks"
