Trust in AI Systems
Trust in AI systems is the multidimensional challenge of getting users to appropriately rely on AI agents — not too much (blind trust) and not too little (never delegating). Trust is built through consistent performance, transparent reasoning, graceful failure handling, and respect for user boundaries. It's destroyed by a single unexplained failure, an overstepped boundary, or a confident wrong answer. Designing for trust means designing for the moments when things go wrong, not just when they go right.
